0/1/2H Troponin Sampling Planner Tool
Clinical planning tool
0/1/2-Hour Troponin Sampling Planner
Plan the clock times for serial high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) sampling. Select the time of the initial sample to generate a schedule for the 0-hour, 1-hour, and 2-hour time points.
Initial sample
Enter the actual collection time of the baseline sample.
About this planner
This tool calculates clock times from the initial sample collection time. It does not calculate troponin deltas, classify patients into rule-out or abnormal groups, diagnose myocardial infarction, or recommend disposition.
Clinical use
- Use hs-cTn with a validated clinical decision pathway and the specific assay's thresholds and change criteria.
- Obtain and interpret an ECG promptly and integrate biomarker results with the clinical presentation.
- Repeat sampling after a non-diagnostic initial result is generally recommended at 1–2 hours for hs-cTn; conventional cTn assays generally require 3–6 hours.
- Timing matters: collect samples within the windows specified by the chosen pathway. If a sample is delayed, document the actual collection time and interpret results accordingly.
What the schedule does not mean
A planned time point is not itself a diagnostic threshold. The 1-hour and 2-hour pathways use assay-specific baseline concentrations and absolute changes; a third sample or later testing may be needed when the initial pathway does not establish a safe disposition.
