- 4C Mortality Score for COVID 19
This calculator estimates in hospital mortality risk in patients admitted with COVID 19 using readily available clinical parameters at presentation.
- 4C Mortality Score for COVID 19 Explanation and Clinical Context
The 4C Mortality Score is a validated prognostic tool developed to estimate in hospital mortality risk among patients admitted with COVID 19. It integrates eight routinely available variables including age sex comorbidity burden respiratory rate oxygen saturation level of consciousness blood urea and C reactive protein. Each variable contributes proportionally to the final score reflecting systemic illness severity inflammatory burden and organ dysfunction.
Clinically the score supports early risk stratification identifies patients who may benefit from closer monitoring or escalation of care and assists in shared decision making. Higher scores are associated with increased mortality risk and worse clinical outcomes. The tool is intended to complement clinical judgment rather than replace it.
