SHARE-FI (Frailty Index in Elderly Cardiac) Calculator

  • Exhaustion (0 = No, 1 = Yes)
  • Loss of Appetite (0 = No, 1 = Yes)
  • Weakness (Grip Strength in kg)
  • Slowness (Walking Speed in m/s)
  • Low Physical Activity (0 = No, 1 = Yes)
  • SHARE-FI (Frailty Index in Elderly Cardiac Patients): Explanation and Clinical Context
SHARE-FI is a validated tool designed to assess frailty in community-dwelling older adults, particularly useful in elderly cardiac patients.
It uses five domains: exhaustion, loss of appetite, weakness (grip strength), slowness (walking speed), and low physical activity.
Each domain contributes to a composite score that classifies patients as non-frail, pre-frail, or frail.
Frailty in cardiac patients has been associated with increased risk of hospitalization, mortality, and poorer outcomes after interventions.
This tool helps clinicians stratify risk, optimize pre- and post-procedural care, and guide shared decision-making.
