ELECTRa-SCORE (Lead Extraction) Calculator
- ELECTRa-SCORE (Lead Extraction): Explanation and Clinical Context
ELECTRa-SCORE is a validated scoring system developed to estimate the risk of major complications during transvenous lead extraction (TLE). It is based on data from the European Lead Extraction ConTRolled (ELECTRa) Registry, the largest prospective TLE registry in Europe.
The score is calculated from clinical variables including age, lead dwell time, number of leads to be extracted, and the presence of device-related infection. Each variable contributes points to the total score, which stratifies patients into low (EROS 1), intermediate (EROS 2), or high risk (EROS 3) for major procedural complications.
This tool assists clinicians in pre-procedural risk assessment, procedural planning, patient counseling, and allocation of appropriate resources such as surgical backup and specialized extraction tools.
