PADIT Score (CIED Infection Risk) Calculator
- PADIT Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
The PADIT Score is a validated tool to estimate the risk of cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) infection based on patient and procedural factors.
It incorporates five key variables: prior device infection, number of device procedures (first implant, replacement, or upgrade), device type (pacemaker, ICD, CRT), immunocompromised status, and renal dysfunction.
Each variable contributes to the total score, stratifying patients into low, intermediate, or high risk of device-related infection.
Clinicians can use this score for risk assessment, counseling, and implementing preventive measures such as antibiotic prophylaxis or antibacterial envelopes.
