- RI-AF Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
The RI-AF Score is a clinical tool developed to predict the risk of recurrent atrial fibrillation (AF) following device implantation, such as pacemakers or implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs).
It incorporates several clinical parameters: age, history of congestive heart failure (CHF), left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy, aortic atherosclerosis, withdrawal of ACE inhibitors or β-blockers, and use of amiodarone or digoxin.
A higher score indicates a greater risk of AF recurrence, aiding clinicians in identifying patients who may benefit from closer monitoring and tailored therapeutic strategies.
