hs-CRP Tertile Risk Category Calculator
- hs-CRP Tertile Risk Category: Explanation and Clinical Context
The hs-CRP (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein) tertile risk categorization stratifies patients into low, intermediate, or high risk of future cardiovascular events based on their hs-CRP levels.
According to Ridker et al. (Circulation, 2000), the 1st tertile (<1.0 mg/L) represents low risk, the 2nd tertile (1.0–3.0 mg/L) represents intermediate risk, and the 3rd tertile (>3.0 mg/L) represents high risk.
This stratification can guide clinicians in cardiovascular risk assessment and preventive strategies, complementing traditional risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and smoking status.
