  • NAFLD Fibrosis Score (NFS): Explanation and Clinical Context
The NAFLD Fibrosis Score is a non-invasive scoring system designed to estimate the likelihood of advanced fibrosis in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
It incorporates readily available clinical parameters including age, BMI, impaired fasting glucose/diabetes, AST/ALT ratio, platelet count, and albumin level.
The resulting score stratifies patients into low, indeterminate, or high risk for advanced fibrosis, which aids clinicians in decision-making regarding further liver evaluation, such as imaging or biopsy.
