Fontan Risk Score Calculator
- Fontan Risk Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
The Fontan Risk Score is a clinical tool developed to predict early mortality risk for patients undergoing the Fontan procedure, both pre- and post-operatively.
It incorporates key variables such as age at Fontan, preoperative oxygen saturation, ventricular dysfunction, atrioventricular valve regurgitation, and history of arrhythmia.
Each risk factor is assigned a weighted score based on its relative impact on postoperative outcomes, and the total score stratifies patients into low, moderate, or high-risk categories.
This tool aids clinicians in preoperative counseling, surgical planning, and postoperative management, improving patient selection and resource allocation.
