EuroSCORE II (Perioperative Cardiac Morbidity Subscore Companion) Calculator
- EuroSCORE II for Mortality and a Companion View for Morbidity
EuroSCORE II is the contemporary, validated model for predicting in-hospital mortality after adult cardiac surgery. The logistic equation combines patient and operative variables such as age, comorbidities, renal function, LV function, pulmonary pressures, and surgical urgency. The calculator implements the exact logistic coefficients as published by Nashef et al., providing a precise estimate of operative mortality.
While EuroSCORE II does not officially include a morbidity subscore, higher mortality risk correlates strongly with postoperative complications and prolonged ICU stay. Thus, a derived exploratory morbidity tier (Low <2%, Intermediate 2–5%, High >5%) is displayed to aid in perioperative planning.
Clinical Interpretation:
Use the mortality and morbidity projections to inform preoperative risk stratification, resource allocation, and multidisciplinary discussions. In higher-risk patients, intensify hemodynamic optimization, renal protection, and postoperative monitoring protocols.
