Cardiometabolic Nutrition Principles
  • Prioritize vegetables, fruits, whole grains and healthy protein sources.
  • Prefer unsaturated fats instead of saturated fats.
  • Minimize added sugars and highly processed foods.
  • Choose foods naturally lower in sodium and limit added salt.

Evidence and Clinical Notes

BMI is a screening measure and should be interpreted together with waist circumference, clinical history and other cardiometabolic risk factors.

A weight reduction of approximately 5% to 10% can provide clinically meaningful cardiometabolic benefits in adults with excess weight.

General nutrition targets are estimates. Specific conditions such as chronic kidney disease, heart failure, pregnancy, severe obesity, malnutrition and eating disorders require individualized nutritional assessment.

Sodium targets are aligned with contemporary cardiovascular dietary recommendations. Added sugar is limited according to the American Heart Association dietary framework.

This calculator is intended for clinical support and educational purposes. It does not replace professional medical assessment, individualized dietary prescription, or clinical judgment.
