Estimate lifetime cardiovascular risk
Estimate 10-year and lifetime risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular disease, accounting for competing non-CVD mortality.

These are model-based estimates, not an individual diagnosis or a treatment recommendation. Interpret alongside clinical assessment and applicable prevention guidelines.
How the calculator works
LIFE-CVD2 uses sex-specific Cox proportional-hazards functions for CVD events and non-CVD mortality. The model uses age as the time axis and combines the two endpoint-specific risks in annual life-table intervals to account for competing risks.
- Predictors: age, current smoking, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol, including age interactions.
- Age and continuous predictors are centred at 60 years, 120 mmHg, 6 mmol/L total cholesterol, and 1.3 mmol/L HDL cholesterol, respectively.
- Diabetes coefficients are intentionally excluded from clinical calculation, as instructed by the supplementary material; the model is not intended for people with diabetes.
- Region-specific recalibration uses the published intercept and slope parameters for CVD events and non-CVD mortality.
