  • Ambler Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
Ambler Score is a validated risk prediction model for estimating 30-day mortality after cardiac surgery, including CABG, valve procedures, and combined operations.
It uses multiple preoperative patient characteristics, cardiac function parameters, and operation-related factors to calculate a probability of death using logistic regression.
This tool allows clinicians to identify high-risk patients, optimize perioperative care, guide surgical decision-making, and support informed consent.
It has been shown to provide accurate risk predictions, particularly for populations in the United Kingdom where it was developed.
