About PREVENT

The American Heart Association PREVENT equations estimate 10-year risk of total cardiovascular disease, ASCVD, and heart failure in adults aged 30–79 years without known cardiovascular disease. The equations incorporate cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic predictors.

Important eligibility considerations

Intended for primary prevention in adults aged 30–79 years without known CVD.
Required inputs include age, sex, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, eGFR, BMI, diabetes, smoking, statin use, and antihypertensive treatment.
Optional predictors include HbA1c, urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio, and social deprivation index; SDI uses US-specific geographic data.
