- ARIC Hypertension Risk Model: Explanation and Clinical Context
The ARIC Hypertension Risk Model is a validated tool developed from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study to estimate the 5-year risk of developing hypertension in middle-aged adults.
It incorporates multiple clinical variables including age, sex, race, body mass index (BMI), smoking status, physical activity level, diabetes status, and cholesterol level.
The model provides a risk score that can be used to identify individuals at high risk for hypertension, enabling targeted prevention strategies.
