DeFeo Score (Surgical Indication Predictor) Calculator
- DeFeo Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
The DeFeo Score is a validated tool to predict the surgical indication in patients with mitral valve disease. It incorporates functional, structural, and hemodynamic parameters: NYHA functional class, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and pulmonary artery pressure (PAP). Each parameter is assigned points based on thresholds derived from clinical outcomes.
The total score stratifies patients into low, moderate, or high likelihood of requiring surgical intervention.
This tool aids clinicians in identifying patients who may benefit from timely mitral valve surgery, optimizing timing, and guiding management decisions.
