Clinical validity notice: The equation in the previous version was explicitly described in its code as an example. It is not used here because a validated equation, score range, calibration, and clinical cutoffs could not be established from the supplied reference.

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing

Enter the measured peak oxygen uptake.
Enter the slope reported by the CPET system or report.

Clinical and imaging context

Enter RVEF measured using the imaging method documented in the clinical record.
Enter age in completed years.

Parameter summary

Enter all four parameters and select “Summarize parameters”. This page reports the entered measurements only; it does not estimate mortality or assign a validated risk category.

About this tool

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) evaluates exercise capacity and physiological responses to exertion. Peak VO₂ and the VE/VCO₂ slope are among the parameters used in clinical assessment, including in people with congenital heart disease.

Interpretation depends on the underlying diagnosis, anatomy and prior interventions, test effort and quality, age, body size, medications, imaging findings, and the clinical question. These four values alone should not be combined using arbitrary weights.

Important limitation

The cited Alkan et al. publication describes a multimodal machine-learning approach incorporating ECG data and information from clinical letters to predict CPET outcomes. It does not establish the simple equation previously used in this PHP file. The original formula and its output categories have therefore been removed pending a reproducible, clinically validated model specification.
