Fetal MCA Doppler Anemia Predictor
- Fetal middle cerebral artery Doppler as an anemia predictor
Measurement of fetal middle cerebral artery peak systolic velocity is a non invasive method to assess the risk of fetal anemia. The measured PSV is expressed as a multiple of the median for the same gestational age. A multiple of the median at or above 1.5 has been widely used as a threshold to indicate increased probability of moderate to severe fetal anemia. Clinical management should integrate Doppler findings with the full clinical picture and specialist consultation where appropriate.

Additional evidence and validation of the 1.5 multiple of the median threshold can be found in subsequent meta analysis and nomogram studies. The median PSV nomogram formula used in this tool is commonly used in clinical calculators and published nomogram sources.
