NYHA Class Change Index Calculator
- NYHA Class Change Index: Explanation and Clinical Context
The NYHA Class Change Index quantifies the difference in New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class before and after a rehabilitation program.
It is calculated by subtracting the post-rehabilitation class from the pre-rehabilitation class. Positive values indicate functional improvement, negative values indicate worsening, and zero indicates no change.
This index is clinically useful to evaluate the efficacy of cardiac rehabilitation in improving patients’ functional status, guide further management, and predict prognosis.
