  • QDiabetes Risk Algorithm: Explanation and Clinical Context
QDiabetes is a validated risk prediction tool designed to estimate the 10-year risk of developing type 2 diabetes in adults.
It uses demographic and clinical variables readily available in primary care, including age, sex, BMI, family history of diabetes, smoking status, ethnicity, and deprivation score.
The algorithm applies a logistic regression model to combine these risk factors into a single probability, expressed as a percentage risk of developing diabetes over 10 years.
This tool helps clinicians identify high-risk individuals for preventive interventions, lifestyle counseling, and early screening strategies.
