RISK-E (Endocarditis Surgery Mortality) Calculator
- RISK-E (Endocarditis Surgery Mortality) Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
The RISK-E score is a validated risk prediction tool for estimating operative mortality in patients undergoing surgery for infective endocarditis. It uses preoperative clinical variables, including age, renal failure, NYHA class III-IV heart failure, diabetes mellitus, critical preoperative state, prosthetic valve involvement, emergency surgery, and paravalvular complications.
The score applies a logistic regression formula to provide a predicted mortality percentage, aiding clinicians in surgical risk assessment, patient counseling, and perioperative planning.
