  • HER2 Therapy Cardiotoxicity Index (Trastuzumab): Explanation and Clinical Context
Trastuzumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the HER2 receptor, is widely used in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. However, its use is associated with an increased risk of cardiotoxicity, particularly in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, older age, prior anthracycline therapy, and elevated body mass index (BMI).

The HER2 Therapy Cardiotoxicity Index is a clinical tool designed to assess the risk of cardiac dysfunction in patients undergoing trastuzumab therapy. It incorporates factors such as age, history of anthracycline use, BMI, and pre-existing cardiovascular disease to stratify patients into low, moderate, or high-risk categories.
