  • EORTC Bladder Cancer Predictor Explanation and Clinical Context
The EORTC risk tables estimate the probability of recurrence and progression for patients with non muscle invasive bladder cancer using six clinical and pathological factors. Each factor is assigned points for recurrence and for progression. The sum of points is translated into a probability at one year and at five years using the published EORTC tables. These predictions can support counseling, follow up planning, and selection of intravesical therapy options while taking into account the limitations of the original cohort and subsequent validations.

    How the calculator works
Number of tumors, tumor size, prior recurrence rate, tumor stage, presence of concomitant carcinoma in situ, and tumor grade by the 1973 WHO classification are scored according to the original EORTC scheme. The totals for recurrence and progression are then mapped to the corresponding risk categories and percentage probabilities at one year and at five years. This tool implements the point values and risk mappings reported in the original EORTC publication and commonly used clinical implementations.
