Viral Myopericarditis Recurrence Predictor

  • Viral Myopericarditis Recurrence Predictor (proxy using validated recurrent pericarditis models)
Enter patient data below to estimate risk strata using a published recurrent pericarditis outcome model. Dedicated, validated scoring systems specifically for viral myopericarditis recurrence are not yet available; therefore, this tool applies the closest validated framework (recurrent pericarditis risk modeling) and should be interpreted in clinical context.
  • Age (years)
  • Sex
  • Number of prior recurrences at baseline
  • Etiology (current working)
  • Heart rate (bpm)
  • CMR LGE severity
  • LVEF (%)
  • Current therapy at assessment

  • Viral Myopericarditis Recurrence Predictor: Explanation and Clinical Context
Myopericarditis refers to acute pericarditis with concurrent myocardial involvement (elevated troponin and/or CMR evidence). While recurrence is well-characterized in recurrent pericarditis, a dedicated, externally validated score for viral myopericarditis recurrence has not been established. Recurrence rates of acute myocarditis are generally lower than pericarditis but clinically relevant.

This calculator implements the recurrent pericarditis model (Cleveland Clinic; JACC 2024), which uses 10 clinical and imaging variables. Scores ≤3 indicate low, 4–7 intermediate, and ≥8 high risk for recurrence. This tool supports shared decision-making and individualized follow-up.
