RACHS-1 Surgical Complexity Calculator
- RACHS-1 (Risk Adjustment for Congenital Heart Surgery) Surgical Complexity Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
RACHS-1 is a validated classification system to estimate in-hospital mortality risk for patients undergoing congenital heart surgery. It stratifies procedures into six categories based on surgical complexity, from Category 1 (lowest risk) to Category 6 (highest risk).
This tool helps clinicians, researchers, and hospital administrators in risk-adjusted outcome assessment, quality improvement, and benchmarking across institutions.
Predicted mortality percentages for each category are based on the original multicenter dataset and provide a standard reference for clinical interpretation.
