- DASH Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
The DASH Score is a clinical prediction rule designed to estimate the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients presenting with suspected VTE.
It incorporates four variables: D-dimer levels, age, sex, and hormonal therapy use.
Each variable is assigned points based on thresholds derived from cohort studies. Higher total scores correlate with increased probability of VTE.
This tool aids clinicians in risk stratification, guiding further diagnostic testing, and informing management decisions.
