  • Wells Pulmonary Embolism (PE) Score: Explanation and Clinical Context
The Wells PE Score is a validated clinical tool used to estimate the pretest probability of pulmonary embolism in patients presenting with suspected PE.
It uses simple clinical criteria including signs of DVT, heart rate, recent immobilization or surgery, previous history of DVT/PE, hemoptysis, and active malignancy.
The total score stratifies patients into low, moderate, or high risk for PE, guiding further diagnostic testing and management.
